Nancy Devlin, Ph.D

Dr. Nancy Devlin is a psychologist, educator, author and lecturer. For twelve years, her column, Today’s Parents, addressed education and family issues and appeared weekly in New Jersey’s Star Ledger.

Dr. Devlin has also written a weekly column for the Princeton Packet Network of newspapers, entitled Essays on Education. Her columns have been excerpted or reprinted numerous times in books, and various regional and national publications.

Dr. Devlin has become recognized as an influential expert in the field, has made numerous radio and television appearances and lectures regularly on topics of education and parenting.

After frequent requests from readers, Dr Devlin compiled many of her thoughts on education into a book. Arrows Swift and Far – Guiding Your Child Through School is a primer for parents on successfully negotiating today’s school system and is published by Archer Press.

Dr. Nancy Devlin is a licensed psychologist, a family therapist and a nationally-certified school psychologist. Her professional history includes teaching elementary school in New York City, Long Island and in military-dependent schools in Germany, Denmark, and Japan. Dr. Devlin was a staff member at the Educational Testing Service and lecturer at Rutgers University. She was a psychologist for 22 years in the Princeton school system. At present she is a writer, counseling parents and lobbying for better educational systems.

Dr. Devlin graduated from Hunter College with a degree in English and went on to obtain a Masters degree from Hunter College in Guidance and School Counseling. She earned a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology at the University of California at Berkeley.

Born in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania, Dr. Devlin lives in Philadelphia. She is married to a physicist, and they have three sons.
